Just don't leave it sleeping while only on battery power and you are good and safe. I have about 40GB for my Windows partition, which is plenty for the OS and a couple of games on the SSD. I Have then partitioned about 200GB of an external hard drive for mass storage of larger games. Since Steam can handle multiple libraries nicely all I do is plug in the HDD and I can play any games from both libraries (SSD and HDD). I'm not sure if this would work for you but it is certainly an option to consider (especially as it limits the precious SSD space you sacrifice for Boot Camp since high capacity hard drives are really cheap now) • • • •.
Have you ever met the same problem? Do you know how to effectively resize Bootcamp partition?
How Much Space Needed For Walk In Closet
Hi all, I'm trying to figure out how big of a hard drive partition I need to run Creo on a Mac using Bootcamp. The only 'system requirement' type info I can find online talks about RAM requirements, not hard drive space. Next, Boot Camp will copy Windows files over and create the bootable disk drive. Once it’s done with that, it’ll ask you how much of your computer’s hard drive you want to dedicate to Windows. Yo @Fewly if you’re planning to game on your MacBook Pro you might want to put around 40gb to 70gb just to be safe I also use bootcamp as of now in my iMac 2011, currently I allocated 120gb for windows because I play alot of games AHAHAHA. The extra space is for faster processing/ extra space for updates etc etc. Aug 02, 2015 Windows 10 Bootcamp - How much Space? Reader Richard Lanier has a Windows issue—no, not that issue, but rather one involving size. He writes: I’m running Windows 7 in a Boot Camp partition on my MacBook Pro. When I first configured Boot Camp I underestimated how much I’d use Windows and I’m now running out of space.
You need 16 GB of hard drive space for Windows 7, as recommended by Microsoft. If you intend to install a few games on it, just look at their system requirements and add another few Gigabytes for them and for future installations and newer games, but don't add too much and be sure to read the Bootcamp's help files. There are, however, ways of growing the partition size with third party tools, so make your arithmetics for a starting point and then start learning about partition resizing in case you need it in the near future. • Tell us some more • Upload in Progress • Upload failed. You don’t need to partition your hard drive and potentially waste space – your Windows installation will only take up as much space as it needs. Installation is a lot faster and more straightforward, and you don’t need to worry about downloading and installing drivers. I grew up on; being able to go through tortuous Win updates on my VM’d Boot Camp whilst working in at the same time is AMAZING — Chris Law (@inequals). The main downside, of course, is that by using this method you’re running multiple operating systems at the same time, so it’s by no means efficient.

Once that’s done, everything should work — it includes drivers for graphics card, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, audio, webcam, keyboard (including backlighting and the media keys) and the trackpad. Boot Camp Performance If the main reason you want to run Windows 10 in Boot Camp is for performance, you probably want to know what to expect. First up, the good news – if you’re heading to Windows for gaming, you’ll probably get good graphics performance out of your Mac (as long as you have a dedicated graphics card). That’s because, generally speaking, a lot of games are written for Windows first and will often use Direct X (a Microsoft technology); the same games in OS X will have to make do with a different technology, OpenGL, which is cross-platform and well supported but generally less efficient resulting in lower performance. Quite pleased with my Mac with boot camp gaming, despite driving a 5k display it can do DS3 1080 at 55fps Max setting and 2k at 40fps — Gaijinhunter (@aevanko) Now, the not so good news. You know how your Mac gets incredible battery life and has an amazing trackpad? They’re both so good because they’re optimized for use with OS X, which is tailored to work perfectly with a very specific set of hardware and is heavily optimised because of it.
